6000+ kilometres in 60 days on a solar electric retrofitted tuktuk

The Golden Quadrilateral route in India comprises of four metro cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. The thought behind doing a journey of 6000+ kilometres along this route on a partially solar powered retrofitted electric tuk-tuk was primarily to bust the myths and misconceptions about electric vehicles and provide test drives during the journey. Tuk-tuks comprise of a major chunk of the last-mile transportation options in India. There is a huge opportunity to electrify the tuk-tuks in India, thus, reducing the air pollution in the densely populated cities and towns. Here are the 5 key learnings from our journey –
